Civil Engineering Design Engineer (J25-270)

Sector / Field: Batteries / Industry / EPC Projects
Location: Haut de France, France

Context

Strengthening engineering teams for the construction and expansion of battery gigafactories. Fast-paced projects featuring complex industrial buildings including dry rooms, sensitive process areas, laboratories, utility buildings, outdoor infrastructures, and special foundations.

Main Responsibilities

Design and Studies

  • Perform or review civil engineering (CE) studies: preliminary design, calculation notes, reinforced concrete structure plans, steel framework plans, formwork and rebar drawings.

  • Verify process loads, heavy machinery loads, and vibrations.

  • Consider specific constraints: dry rooms, heavy process equipment, high permanent/dynamic loads, strict flatness and stability tolerances.

  • Contribute to civil engineering technical decisions in coordination with architecture, utilities, process, and HVAC teams.

Technical Coordination

  • Ensure coordination of civil engineering with process, HVAC, electrical, fire protection systems, and external utilities.

  • Verify BIM model consistency and participate in interdisciplinary reviews (clash detection, openings, load interactions).

Contractor Follow-up and On-Site Support

  • Analyze contractor execution studies, issue technical approvals (VISA), and verify compliance with standards and project execution documentation.

  • Respond to RFIs and address non-conformities.

  • Provide technical support on site: validate construction methods, ensure quality control, manage interfaces with other trades.

Documentation and Reporting

  • Prepare technical notes, specifications, tender documents (CCTP), and bid packages.

  • Monitor design schedules and deliverables related to civil engineering.

  • Provide regular updates to the Project Manager or Lead Civil Engineer.

Profile

  • Civil/Structural Engineering degree (ESTP, INSA, Arts & Métiers, Polytech, etc.).

  • 3 to 10 years of experience in civil engineering for industrial or complex building projects.

  • Strong understanding of interfaces with electrical, HVAC, and process systems.

  • Professional English required.

Skills / Tools

  • Proficiency in civil engineering design and calculation software (AutoCAD, Revit Structure, etc.).

  • Knowledge of EN standards, ISO, Eurocodes.

  • BIM coordination and multi-discipline interface management.

  • Ability to work on international EPC projects.
