HVAC Design Engineer (J25-269)

Sector / Field: Batteries / Industry / EPC Projects (Gigafactories) – industrial buildings with high environmental constraints (dry rooms, clean utilities, high-capacity HVAC)
Location: Dunkirk, France

Context

  • Development of battery gigafactories.

  • Complex industrial buildings: “ultra dry” rooms, sensitive process areas, clean utilities.

  • Large-capacity HVAC networks, HEPA/ULPA filtration, energy recovery, dust management, controlled atmospheres.

Main Responsibilities

1. HVAC Design and Studies

  • Sizing: thermal and airflow calculations, flow and pressure loss calculations, sizing of AHUs, fans, cooling/heating coils, air treatment systems for dry rooms.

  • Plans and diagrams: P&IDs, HVAC schematics, piping layouts, openings, BIM models (Revit MEP).

2. Process & Utilities Integration

  • Consider thermal loads from processes (coating, mixing, calendering, assembly).

  • Define technical interfaces with HVAC, sprinklers, electrical systems, automation, utilities (chillers, steam, hot water, compressed air), dry rooms and sensitive areas.

  • Manage humidity control and HEPA/ULPA filtration according to process needs.

3. Technical Follow-up and Site Support

  • Validation of execution studies and technical reviews (VISA).

  • Respond to RFIs and handle technical discrepancies.

  • Participate in FAT/SAT for AHUs, dehumidifiers, and special HVAC equipment.

  • Provide technical support on site: spot checks, commissioning, performance testing, balancing.

4. Documentation and Project Management

  • Draft technical specifications, datasheets, and technical notes.

  • Participate in bidding processes and contractor selection.

  • Track schedule, deliverables, and report to Lead Facilities Engineer.

  • Conduct BIM reviews and multidisciplinary coordination.

Technical Skills

  • Industrial HVAC / Facilities.

  • Industrial air treatment, dry rooms, clean rooms, HEPA/ULPA filtration.

  • High-capacity HVAC and large volumes, process extraction.

  • HVAC control systems, automation, and monitoring.

  • Balancing, commissioning, energy performance.

  • Standards: EN, ISO, GMP.

  • Tools: Revit MEP, AutoCAD, Carrier HAP, Trane Trace, Climawin, P&ID, Microsoft Office, SharePoint.

Specific Requirements for Gigafactories

  • Mastery of ultra-low humidity constraints (negative dew point).

  • Close coordination with process and dry room teams.

  • Strong HSE culture on industrial sites.

Candidate Profile

  • Degree in HVAC / Energy / Fluid Mechanics Engineering (INSA, ENSAM, ENSE3, Polytech, etc.).

  • 3 to 10 years of experience in industrial HVAC design / clean utilities.

  • Experience in demanding industrial environments: pharmaceuticals, microelectronics, fine chemicals, batteries, food, data centers.

  • Professional English required.
