Power Systems Design Engineer (J25-085)
Education
Master’s degree (BAC +5), with 7 to 10 years of experience (engineering degree preferred).
Main Tasks
Needs Analysis
-
Estimate the electrical consumption of each component of the electrical installation: for each zone of a building, the devices located there, and the distribution circuits.
-
Understand requirements and constraints according to current standards, beyond just power and installation quality.
-
Analyze existing systems to identify possible optimizations.
-
Seek technical solutions to reduce costs.
Electrical Installation Design
-
Create single-line diagrams (synoptics) for power systems (CFO) and draft low-voltage design assumptions.
-
Develop schematic diagrams summarizing the power levels required (for both power and low-current systems), considering source capacity and identified needs/constraints.
-
Draw the layout of terminal devices and contribute to developing electrical diagrams.
-
Determine the maximum length and minimum cross-section of cables based on required power levels using CANECO BT software.
-
Create lighting calculation notes using DIALux for technical rooms.
-
Identify the type and protection rating (IP) required for each cable section.
Specifications Definition
-
Specify all the equipment required for the electrical installation in the form of a parts list (nomenclature), detailing type, properties, and quantities.
-
Analyze supplier technical bids from both technical and financial perspectives.
Project Follow-Up
-
Ensure compliance with specifications, safety regulations, and applicable standards.
-
Lead technical meetings in coordination with other technical disciplines (CET).
-
Provide technical support, including updates to execution drawings to incorporate unforeseen constraints or new client needs.
-
Participate in commissioning phases, write the power systems testing protocol, and conduct on-site technical inspections.
-
Compile final project documentation.
