Role Overview
The Senior Procurement & Category Manager is responsible for defining and executing sourcing strategies, leading category management activities, and overseeing supplier performance for specialty food products.
The role requires strong commercial judgment, a deep understanding of food procurement environments, and the ability to balance cost optimization with quality, compliance, and supply continuity.
Key Responsibilities
- Define and implement procurement and sourcing strategies aligned with business objectives.
- Lead category management for food products and related materials, including portfolio rationalization and value optimization.
- Manage supplier selection, negotiations, contracting, and performance management.
- Design and optimize planograms, where applicable (retail or distribution environments).
- Drive cost optimization initiatives while ensuring compliance with quality, safety, and regulatory standards.
- Collaborate closely with supply planning, operations, and logistics teams to ensure alignment across the value chain.
- Monitor supplier KPIs, supply risks, and market trends to proactively mitigate disruptions.
- Support continuous improvement initiatives across procurement and category management processes.
Required Qualifications
- 10–15 years of experience in procurement and/or category management, ideally within the food or FMCG sector.
- Proven expertise in strategic sourcing, negotiation, and supplier management.
- Strong knowledge of food regulations, quality standards, and sourcing constraints.
- Experience in regional and/or international sourcing is a strong advantage.
- Excellent analytical capabilities and strategic thinking.
- Strong stakeholder management and communication skills.
- Ability to operate effectively in a complex, fast-paced environment.
