Catenary (OCS) Engineer / Expert (J26-307)

Location: Morocco
Start Date: Immediate
Sector: Infrastructure & Construction – Railway

Context

As part of railway projects under project management supervision (execution monitoring), catenary specialists are involved in overseeing and controlling the implementation of overhead line systems (OCS), for projects such as new lines or modernization.

Main Responsibilities

  • Supervise catenary (OCS) installation works on site
  • Ensure compliance of installations (supports, poles, cantilevers, messenger wires, contact wires)
  • Verify adherence to execution drawings and technical specifications
  • Oversee stringing, adjustment, and tensioning operations of the catenary system
  • Participate in site meetings and coordinate interfaces with other disciplines (track, power, signaling)
  • Monitor progress and raise alerts in case of deviations (schedule, quality)
  • Identify non-conformities and propose corrective actions
  • Participate in testing and adjustments (catenary geometry, height, stagger, mechanical tension)
  • Ensure compliance with safety requirements, especially for live-line or near-live work
  • Prepare monitoring reports, meeting minutes, and technical documentation

Profile Required

  • Engineering degree or equivalent in electrical engineering, electrotechnics, or civil engineering
  • Experience in railway projects, ideally with catenary systems
  • Strong knowledge of railway electrification systems
  • Ability to work in a site environment
  • Rigor, autonomy, and sense of responsibility
  • Good interpersonal skills for multi-disciplinary coordination

Technical Skills

  • Knowledge of catenary systems (standard, reinforced, high-speed depending on project)
  • Mastery of components: poles, cantilevers, insulators, messenger wires, contact wires
  • Understanding of mechanical constraints (tension, expansion, forces)
  • Ability to read and analyze execution drawings and diagrams
  • Quality monitoring and control of electrification works
  • Basic knowledge of electrical safety (live work / lockout-tagout)

Tools

  • Office tools (Excel, Word)
  • Planning software (MS Project or equivalent)
  • CAD tools (AutoCAD or equivalent)
  • Catenary measurement and adjustment tools (depending on project)
