Context

The Electrical Construction Supervisor is responsible for supervising and coordinating all electrical construction and installation activities during night shift operations on major infrastructure and construction projects in the UK.

The role ensures that electrical works are executed safely, efficiently, and in compliance with project specifications, quality standards, and construction schedules. The supervisor plays a key role in maintaining productivity and operational continuity during critical night work.

This is a site-based supervisory role requiring strong electrical construction experience, leadership capabilities, and hands-on coordination of multidisciplinary teams in fast-paced construction environments.

Key Responsibilities

Night Shift Electrical Supervision

  • Supervise all electrical construction and installation activities during night shift operations.
  • Coordinate manpower, subcontractors, materials, tools, and equipment required for execution.
  • Ensure night work is completed according to project schedules and operational priorities.
  • Manage effective handovers between day and night shift teams.

Electrical Installation Activities

  • Supervise installation of cable trays and supports, power and control cables, electrical panels and switchboards, lighting systems, grounding and bonding systems, field instruments and junction boxes, LV/MV electrical equipment.
  • Ensure installation works comply with electrical drawings, schematics, project specifications, approved method statements, QA/QC requirements.
  • Monitor cable routing, terminations, testing preparation, and installation quality.

Workforce & Subcontractor Management

  • Lead teams of electricians, cable pullers, technicians, and subcontractors during night operations.
  • Allocate work fronts and monitor workforce productivity.
  • Conduct toolbox talks and pre-shift safety briefings.
  • Resolve technical and operational issues during execution.

HSE & Compliance

  • Enforce project HSE procedures and UK electrical/construction safety standards.
  • Ensure compliance with permit-to-work systems, lockout/tagout procedures, electrical isolation requirements, work at height regulations, night shift safety protocols.
  • Participate in safety inspections, audits, and incident investigations.
  • Promote strong safety awareness across all electrical activities.

Coordination & Reporting

  • Coordinate closely with construction managers, electrical engineers, QA/QC inspectors, HSE departments, logistics/material handling teams, planning engineers.
  • Prepare: daily/night shift reports, progress updates, manpower reports, issue logs and corrective action follow-ups.
  • Support commissioning readiness and project milestones.

Candidate Profile

Education

  • Diploma or Degree in: Electrical Engineering, Electrotechnical Systems, Construction Engineering, or equivalent technical discipline.

Experience

  • Minimum 7–12 years of experience in: electrical construction supervision, infrastructure projects, industrial construction, power or heavy construction environments.
  • Proven experience supervising night shift construction activities.
  • Experience on large EPC or infrastructure projects preferred.

Technical Skills

  • Electrical construction and installation supervision.
  • Strong understanding of cable installation, electrical equipment erection, grounding systems, testing and pre-commissioning support.
  • Ability to read and interpret electrical drawings, single-line diagrams, cable schedules, layouts and schematics.
  • Familiarity with QA/QC inspection requirements and electrical standards.
  • Good reporting and construction coordination skills.

Language Requirements

  • Professional English mandatory.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with site teams and project management.
