Context:
The Smart City Platform Architect is responsible for designing and leading the end-to-end architecture of smart city digital platforms, integrating IoT, cloud infrastructure, data ecosystems, and urban systems.
The role ensures scalable, secure, and interoperable architectures that enable real-time city operations, data-driven decision-making, and seamless integration across all smart city domains.
Technical Responsibilities
- End-to-End Architecture Design
- Define full smart city architecture:
- Edge layer (IoT devices, sensors)
- Connectivity layer (networks, gateways)
- Cloud layer (data processing and storage)
- Application layer (urban services and platforms)
- Ensure scalability, resilience, and performance across all layers
- Solution Architecture Design
- Design modern architecture patterns including:
- Microservices architecture
- Event-driven systems
- API-first architecture
- Ensure modular, reusable, and scalable system design
- Platform Integration
- Integrate heterogeneous systems:
- IoT platforms
- GIS systems
- BIM systems
- SCADA and industrial control systems
- Ensure interoperability between legacy and modern systems
- Data Platform Architecture
- Design and implement data ecosystems:
- Data Lake architecture
- Data Warehouse solutions
- Enable real-time and batch data processing pipelines
- Ensure data lifecycle management and analytics readiness
- Data Governance & Interoperability
- Define data models and standards across platforms
- Ensure interoperability between smart city systems
- Establish data governance frameworks and policies
- Align with international smart city standards
- Cybersecurity Architecture
- Implement security architecture including:
- IAM (Identity & Access Management)
- PKI (Public Key Infrastructure)
- Zero Trust security model
- Ensure secure data exchange across platforms and systems

Profile Requirements
Experience: 8 to 15 years of experience in: IoT systems, Cloud architecture, Data platforms; Large-scale digital transformation projects
Education
Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in: Computer Engineering, Software Engineering, Telecommunications, Information Systems, Data Engineering or related field
