Context

As part of industrial investment projects in the pharmaceutical sector, we are looking for a Building & Structural Engineering Lead to lead the design studies related to building, civil engineering and structures.

As the technical reference for your scope, you will primarily work during the FEED and Detailed Design phases, from defining construction solutions through to their budget estimation. You will also coordinate the various contributors and ensure the consistency of the studies with industrial constraints and the requirements specific to pharmaceutical environments.

Main Responsibilities

  • Lead the building, civil engineering and structural design studies during the FEED and Detailed Design phases.
  • Define and challenge technical choices and construction principles adapted to the project requirements.
  • Coordinate engineers, design offices and other stakeholders involved within the scope.
  • Guarantee the quality, technical consistency and compliance with deadlines of engineering deliverables.
  • Manage interfaces with other disciplines: processes, utilities, equipment, architecture, electrical and technical installations.
  • Prepare and consolidate cost estimates related to building, civil engineering and structures.
  • Participate in techno-economic decisions and propose optimization solutions.
  • Verify that operational, maintenance and safety constraints and the specific requirements of the pharmaceutical industry are taken into account.
  • Participate in design reviews and ensure the follow-up of technical actions.
  • Support the project teams during the various stages of design validation.

Technical Skills

  • Strong command of the design of industrial buildings, civil engineering and structures.
  • Confirmed experience in managing the FEED / Detailed Design phases.
  • Ability to establish, analyze and challenge budget estimates for building and structural works.
  • Good knowledge of design principles, construction methods and integration constraints for industrial buildings.
  • Ability to coordinate multidisciplinary studies and manage technical interfaces.
  • Good understanding of regulatory and technical constraints applicable to pharmaceutical environments.
  • Proficiency in common design, coordination and project management tools.

Candidate Profile

  • Higher education in civil engineering, building engineering, structural engineering or equivalent engineering field.
  • Significant experience in the design and engineering of industrial buildings.
  • Experience as a technical manager, design manager or lead engineer on complex projects.
  • At least 2 to 3 significant experiences in the pharmaceutical industry, providing a good understanding of its specific requirements and constraints.
  • Demonstrated experience in coordinating engineering teams and making technical decisions.
  • Ability to work on projects across France with regular travel.
  • Highly specialized pharmaceutical expertise is not essential, but a good knowledge of the sector’s standards and constraints is required.
