DRI Process Engineer (J26-314)

Context:

The major role of the Process Engineer is to optimize shaft furnace performance, gas consumption, and DRI product quality.

The role focuses on improving process efficiency, ensuring stable operations, and enhancing overall plant performance in a gas-based reduction environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Optimize DRI shaft furnace operations:
  • Reduction efficiency
  • Temperature profiles
  • Pressure control

Monitor and improve:

  • Gas reforming performance
  • Reducing gas composition and quality

Analyze:

  • Process parameters
  • Production KPIs (metallization rate, productivity, fuel rate, etc.)
  • Reduce energy consumption and improve metallization rates
  • Identify process deviations and support troubleshooting activities

Coordinate with:

  • Operations team
  • Maintenance team
  • Quality control team
  • Contribute to continuous process improvement initiatives

Required Profile

  • Bachelor’s Degree in: Metallurgical Engineering; Chemical Engineering; Process Engineering
  • 3 to 8 years of experience in:
  • DRI plants
  • Ironmaking processes
  • Experience with gas-based reduction technologies (Midrex / HYL) is highly preferred

Technical Skills

Strong knowledge of DRI processes:

  • Midrex process
  • HYL process

Expertise in:

  • Process optimization
  • Data analysis and performance monitoring

Good understanding of:

  • Gas reforming systems
  • Thermodynamics of reduction reactions

Familiarity with:

  • Shaft furnace operation
  • Process control systems
