Context

The Mechanical Erection Supervisor is responsible for supervising and coordinating all mechanical erection activities during night shift operations on construction and infrastructure projects.

The role ensures that installation works are executed safely, efficiently, and in compliance with project specifications, quality standards, and construction schedules. The supervisor plays a critical role in maintaining productivity during night operations while ensuring strict adherence to HSE requirements.

This is a site-based leadership position requiring strong mechanical construction experience and hands-on supervision capabilities in fast-paced project environments.

Key Responsibilities

  • Night Shift Mechanical Supervision
  • Supervise all mechanical erection and installation activities during night shift operations.
  • Coordinate manpower, subcontractors, equipment, and materials required for ongoing works.
  • Monitor daily progress and ensure alignment with project schedules and priorities.
  • Ensure smooth continuity between day and night shift activities through proper handovers.
  • Mechanical Installation Activities
  • Supervise installation of: mechanical equipment, piping systems, steel structures, supports, rotating/static equipment, HVAC/mechanical assemblies, industrial packages and modules.
  • Verify installation works according to drawings, specifications, and approved procedures.
  • Ensure proper alignment, leveling, bolting, and mechanical fit-up activities.
  • Team & Subcontractor Management
  • Lead construction crews, riggers, fitters, welders, and subcontractors.
  • Allocate work fronts and monitor workforce productivity.
  • Conduct toolbox talks and shift briefings.
  • Resolve site issues and coordinate corrective actions during night operations.
  • HSE & Quality Compliance
  • Enforce project HSE standards and UK construction safety regulations.
  • Ensure safe lifting, rigging, confined space, and hot work practices.
  • Monitor compliance with permit-to-work systems.
  • Participate in safety inspections, audits, and incident reporting.
  • Ensure all works comply with QA/QC requirements and approved method statements.
  • Coordination & Reporting
  • Coordinate with:
  • construction managers, planning teams, QA/QC inspectors, HSE departments, logistics and material teams.
  • Report daily progress, delays, manpower status, and technical issues.
  • Support project milestones and shutdown/night execution strategies.

Candidate Profile

Education

Diploma or Degree in: Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Construction, Construction Management, or equivalent technical background.

Experience

  • Minimum 7–12 years of experience in: mechanical erection, industrial construction, infrastructure projects, oil & gas, power plants, heavy industrial environments.
  • Strong experience supervising night shift construction activities.
  • Previous experience on large-scale EPC or infrastructure projects preferred.

Technical Skills

  • Mechanical erection and installation supervision.
  • Reading and interpretation of: GA drawings, isometrics, P&IDs, mechanical layouts.
  • Knowledge of rigging and lifting operations.
  • Familiarity with QA/QC inspection processes.
  • Understanding of construction sequencing and site coordination.
  • Good reporting and progress tracking skills.

Language Requirements

  • Professional English required.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with construction teams and project management.
