Context
As part of major infrastructure and construction projects in the UK, the Mechanical Erection Supervisor – VIE supports and supervises mechanical installation and erection activities during night shift operations.
The role is focused on coordinating field activities, ensuring construction progress, enforcing HSE compliance, and supporting site execution teams during critical night works. The position offers strong international exposure within large-scale infrastructure and industrial construction environments.
This is a field-oriented supervisory role requiring strong coordination skills, technical knowledge in mechanical construction, and the ability to operate effectively during night shift activities.
Key Responsibilities
- Night Shift Site Supervision
- Supervise mechanical erection and installation activities during night operations.
- Coordinate workforce, subcontractors, tools, equipment, and materials required for execution.
- Ensure continuity between day and night shifts through proper communication and reporting.
- Monitor work progress against project schedules and night shift targets.
- Mechanical Construction Activities
- Supervise installation and assembly of: mechanical equipment, piping systems, steel structures, supports and brackets, HVAC/mechanical systems, industrial packages and modules.
- Ensure installation activities are performed according to drawings, specifications, and approved procedures.
- Monitor alignment, fit-up, bolting, and erection quality.
- Coordination & Field Execution
- Coordinate closely with construction teams, logistics/material handling teams, QA/QC inspectors, HSE personnel, planning engineers, subcontractors.
- Support resolution of technical and operational issues occurring during night work.
- Ensure work fronts remain available and productive.
- HSE & Quality Compliance
- Enforce HSE standards and UK construction safety regulations.
- Ensure compliance with permit-to-work systems, lifting procedures, confined space requirements, hot work safety rules.
- Participate in toolbox talks, safety inspections, and incident reporting.
- Ensure all works comply with QA/QC requirements and approved method statements.
- Reporting
- Prepare and communicate shift progress reports, manpower status, work completion updates, site issues and delays.
- Support project management in achieving construction milestones.
Candidate Profile
Education
Engineering Degree or Diploma in: Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Construction, Construction Engineering, or related technical discipline.
Experience
Initial experience (internship, graduate program, or first professional experience) in:
- mechanical construction, industrial projects, infrastructure, oil & gas, heavy industry, or EPC environments.
- Exposure to site supervision or construction activities is highly appreciated.
- Motivation to work in international construction environments and night operations.
Technical Skills
- Basic knowledge of mechanical erection and installation activities.
- Ability to read: mechanical drawings, isometrics, layouts, P&IDs.
- Understanding of construction site coordination and safety requirements.
- Familiarity with MS Office and reporting tools.
- Knowledge of QA/QC and HSE principles is a plus.
