Context

As part of our activities in Saudi Arabia, ProjecTTech is seeking a Senior Process Design Engineer EPP to lead the process design and technical development of Engineered Package Plants (EPP) for water and wastewater treatment projects.

The role focuses on developing reliable, optimized, and cost-effective treatment solutions while ensuring full compliance with contractual requirements, environmental regulations, project specifications, and applicable engineering standards.

Main Responsibilities

  • Lead process design activities for water and wastewater treatment package plants and modular systems.
  • Develop and review process design calculations, mass balances, Process Flow Diagrams (PFDs), and Piping & Instrumentation Diagrams (P&IDs).
  • Perform hydraulic calculations and define process design criteria.
  • Size and select major process equipment, including pumps, chemical dosing systems, filtration units, clarification systems, and biological treatment units.
  • Ensure compliance with project specifications, tender requirements, contractual obligations, and local and international standards.
  • Support proposal and business development teams with process designs, technical descriptions, equipment selection, and cost estimates for tenders.
  • Coordinate with project management, mechanical, electrical, instrumentation, and automation disciplines to ensure effective design integration.
  • Review vendor quotations, technical data sheets, equipment submittals, and technical offers.
  • Identify opportunities for process optimization, standardization, performance improvement, and cost reduction across EPP solutions.
  • Provide technical support during manufacturing, Factory Acceptance Testing (FAT), Site Acceptance Testing (SAT), installation, and commissioning.
  • Troubleshoot process-related issues and recommend appropriate corrective actions during project execution and start-up.

 

Technical Skills

  • Strong expertise in water and wastewater process design.
  • Advanced knowledge of process calculations, mass balances, hydraulic calculations, and equipment sizing.
  • Strong command of PFD and P&ID development and review.
  • Knowledge of process simulation and engineering design methodologies.
  • In-depth understanding of water treatment technologies, including desalination, clarification, filtration, biological treatment, and tertiary treatment.
  • Proven expertise in Engineered Package Plants (EPP) and/or modular treatment systems.
  • Ability to assess technical proposals and vendor documentation.
  • Good knowledge of international engineering standards, codes, and environmental requirements.
  • Strong understanding of technical compliance requirements for tenders and project execution.

Candidate Profile

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Chemical Engineering, Environmental Engineering, Process Engineering, or a related discipline.
  • 7 to 10 years of relevant experience in process design within the water and wastewater treatment industry.
  • Demonstrated experience with Engineered Package Plants (EPP) or modular water treatment systems.
  • Experience supporting projects from tender and design through manufacturing, testing, and commissioning.
  • Previous experience working on projects in Saudi Arabia or the Middle East would be an advantage.
