Context
As part of growing industrial automation projects, the company is strengthening its automation department to ensure the design, coordination, and implementation of automated systems for its clients. The Automation Project Manager oversees the entire project lifecycle: functional analysis, supervision of programming phases, management of technical interfaces, and communication with clients and suppliers.
Main Responsibilities
Project Management & Coordination
• Full management of automation projects, from requirements definition to commissioning.
• Task planning, resource organization, and coordination of all project stakeholders.
• Monitoring project progress, reporting, risk management, and adherence to deadlines.
Functional Analysis & Design
• Creation and validation of detailed functional analyses.
• Definition of automation architectures: PLCs, HMIs, industrial networks.
• Preparation of technical documents for programming and integration teams.
Supervision of Programmers
• Management and supervision of automation engineers/programmers (internal or subcontracted).
• Verification of PLC programs, functional blocks, HMIs, and operating sequences.
• Coordination of testing phases: FAT, SAT, and commissioning.
Client & Supplier Interface
• Act as the main technical contact for the client throughout the project.
• Coordinate with suppliers of PLCs, components, software, and industrial equipment.
• Manage requirements, make technical decisions, and validate proposed solutions.
Commissioning & Acceptance
• Supervise on-site testing and validate overall system operation.
• Oversee final adjustments, corrections, and optimizations.
• Participate in acceptance stages (FAT/SAT/OPR) and handover to the client/operations team.
Desired Profile
Experience
• At least 1 year of experience in industrial automation: projects, programming, or commissioning.
• First experience in project management or coordination is appreciated.
Technical Skills
• Mastery of PLC architectures (Siemens, Schneider, Rockwell depending on projects).
• Knowledge of industrial networks (Profinet, Modbus, Ethernet/IP).
• Solid understanding of functional analyses, process logic, and automated sequences.
• Knowledge of SCADA and HMI tools.
