Role Overview
For a large-scale port and free zone development project in Libya, we are seeking a Senior Equipment Engineer to oversee the specification, procurement, installation and performance of heavy and operational equipment.
The role ensures that all mechanical and operational equipment meets technical requirements, safety standards and operational performance objectives throughout the project lifecycle.
Key Responsibilities
- Define technical specifications for port and operational equipment (handling systems, cranes, mechanical systems, support equipment).
- Review and validate vendor proposals and technical documentation.
- Oversee equipment selection, procurement and commissioning processes.
- Ensure compliance with applicable international standards and project requirements.
- Coordinate with engineering, procurement and construction teams to ensure proper integration of equipment.
- Monitor installation, testing and performance verification activities.
- Identify technical risks related to equipment performance and propose mitigation measures.
- Provide technical support during handover and operational readiness phases.
Required Profile
- Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering or a relevant engineering discipline.
- Minimum 15 years of overall professional experience.
- At least 5 years in a similar senior equipment engineering role, preferably within port, industrial or heavy infrastructure projects.
- Strong background in heavy equipment systems and mechanical installations.
- Relevant professional certifications are considered an advantage.
- Experience in complex, large-scale international projects is preferred.
