Context
As part of projects involving the design, construction, or operation of HVAC systems, the HVAC Manager oversees all activities related to heating, ventilation, and air conditioning. They ensure energy performance, regulatory compliance, and proper execution of the work.
Main Responsibilities
Technical Management
- Define HVAC solutions (sizing, equipment selection, system architecture)
- Supervise studies (preliminary design, detailed design, execution design)
- Validate calculation notes (thermal loads, air and hydraulic networks)
- Ensure compliance with standards (ASHRAE, EN, RT, etc.)
- Monitor interfaces with other disciplines (electricity, plumbing, BMS)
Project Management
- Plan HVAC activities (studies, procurement, construction, commissioning)
- Monitor costs and optimize technical and economic solutions
- Manage technical risks and on-site issues
- Ensure deadlines and project milestones are met
Work Supervision & Commissioning
- Supervise installation of equipment (AHUs, chillers, VRV/VRF systems, networks)
- Check installation quality on site
- Lead testing and commissioning phases
- Validate performance (airflows, temperatures, energy efficiency)
Management & Coordination
- Lead HVAC engineers and technicians
- Coordinate subcontractors and suppliers
- Run technical meetings with stakeholders
- Report to the client or project management
Key Skills
- Strong HVAC expertise (thermodynamics, air systems, hydraulics)
- Proficiency with tools: HAP, Carrier, Climawin, Revit MEP, AutoCAD
- Good knowledge of standards and regulations
- Ability to manage complex projects
- Leadership and overall site vision
Profile Required
- Education: Master’s degree (HVAC engineering, energy engineering, or equivalent)
- Experience: typically 8–15 years in HVAC
- Strong project management experience expected
- English often required for international projects
