Context
As part of a Data Center project in the design phase, we are looking for a Design Manager to coordinate technical work packages and manage design studies across all project design phases.
The mission is planned for an initial duration of 6 months, renewable.
The role is within a complex technical environment requiring strong cross-functional coordination between engineering teams, external partners, technical experts, and the end client. The Design Manager will mainly be based in Montrouge, with occasional travel within the Paris region for client and partner meetings.
Responsibilities and Missions
Design & Engineering Management
- Organize and manage multi-disciplinary design studies
- Monitor design phases: APS, APD, PRO / DCE
- Coordinate RIBA stages 1 to 5
- Ensure overall technical consistency of the project
- Track technical deliverables and ensure quality
- Manage interfaces between technical work packages
- Ensure client requirements are properly integrated
Technical Coordination
- Prioritize technical topics based on project needs
- Guide design activities and arbitrate technical decisions
- Translate client requirements into operational technical solutions
- Coordinate internal teams, design offices, and external partners
- Track actions and open issues
- Participate in technical meetings and design reviews
- Support execution and commissioning preparation phases
Cross-Functional Management
- Lead and coordinate multidisciplinary teams
- Functionally manage engineers and technical experts
- Drive multiple technical work packages in parallel
- Monitor design schedule and priorities
- Ensure quality and compliance of technical deliverables
- Maintain clear communication with client and stakeholders
Required Technical Skills
The candidate must have strong general technical expertise, with a specialization in at least one of the following domains:
- HV / MV / LV electrical systems
- Mechanical / HVAC systems
- ELV (Extra Low Voltage systems)
- Fire protection systems
General knowledge in:
- Electrical engineering
- Cooling / HVAC systems
- Critical infrastructure
- Multi-disciplinary coordination
Experience in design and engineering management is strongly required.
Project Phases
The candidate must be able to work across:
- APS (Preliminary Design)
- APD (Detailed Design)
- PRO / DCE (Final Design / Tender Documentation)
- RIBA stages 1 / 2 / 3 / 4 / 5
Experience in construction and commissioning phases is a strong advantage.
Profile Required
- Minimum 5 years of professional experience
- Proven experience in complex technical projects
- Strong experience in Data Center or industrial environments is highly appreciated
- Experience in design management and multi-package coordination
- Ability to manage complex technical interfaces
- Experience in cross-functional or functional management roles
- Strong analytical, decision-making, and prioritization skills
- Excellent technical and client communication skills
