Context
As part of a Data Center project in the design phase, we are seeking a Low Voltage (LV) Design Project Manager to support the detailed design stages between RIBA 3 (Developed Design) and RIBA 4 (Technical Design).
The candidate will be responsible for the technical leadership and coordination of low-voltage electrical design activities, ensuring that proposed solutions meet the availability, resilience, and performance requirements typical of critical infrastructure projects.
The role will involve close collaboration with multidisciplinary design teams (Electrical, HVAC, Structural, Architectural, BIM), equipment suppliers, and client representatives to ensure the successful production and validation of design deliverables.
Responsibilities
LV Design Management
• Lead LV electrical design activities during RIBA 3 and RIBA 4 phases.
• Define and develop Data Center electrical distribution architectures.
• Participate in the selection of distribution equipment, LV switchboards, Main LV Switchboards (MLVSB), UPS systems, and backup power solutions.
• Ensure compliance with the project’s redundancy philosophies (N+1, 2N, 2N+1).
• Maintain overall consistency between the electrical design and other engineering disciplines.
Design Deliverables Management
• Supervise the production of single-line diagrams.
• Lead selectivity studies, protection coordination studies, and short-circuit analyses.
• Review and validate electrical calculations and system sizing.
• Manage the preparation and review of technical specifications.
• Ensure the quality and compliance of deliverables before client submission.
Project Coordination
• Organize and facilitate technical design meetings.
• Coordinate interfaces with BIM teams and other technical disciplines.
• Participate in Design Reviews and multidisciplinary coordination workshops.
• Identify technical risks and propose appropriate mitigation solutions.
• Monitor design actions, deliverables, and project milestones.
Technical Support and Validation
• Conduct technical reviews of studies produced by internal teams and subcontractors.
• Verify compliance with project standards, specifications, and applicable regulations.
• Participate in client approval and validation processes.
• Support the transition from detailed design to execution design and construction phases.
Candidate Profile
• Master’s Degree (Bac+5) in Electrical Engineering or Electrotechnical Engineering.
• Significant experience in LV electrical design for Data Centers, critical facilities, or high-availability infrastructure projects.
• Proven experience working on detailed design phases corresponding to RIBA 3 and RIBA 4.
• Strong understanding of critical electrical architectures and Data Center operational requirements.
• Expertise in LV power distribution studies, selectivity analysis, protection coordination, and electrical system sizing.
• Good knowledge of IEC, BS, NF standards, and international standards applicable to Data Centers.
• Proficiency in AutoCAD, Caneco, ETAP, Revit, or equivalent engineering software.
• Professional English is required to operate within an international project environment.
