Context
As part of the development of a Data Center project, we are seeking an Electrical Senior Manager or MEP Design Manager to lead design activities and coordinate all technical stakeholders throughout the engineering phases.
The successful candidate will primarily be involved during RIBA 3 to RIBA 4 design stages (equivalent to Developed Design, Technical Design, APS, APD, and PRO phases), ensuring the technical quality of engineering studies, interface consistency, and compliance with project requirements.
Responsibilities & Duties
• Lead electrical and/or MEP design activities on Data Center projects.
• Coordinate engineering consultancies, specialist design firms, and technical experts involved in the project.
• Manage RIBA 3 and RIBA 4 design phases and oversee the production of associated deliverables.
• Ensure that all engineering studies comply with technical, regulatory, and contractual requirements.
• Facilitate design meetings and coordinate activities across multiple technical disciplines.
• Identify, monitor, and manage interfaces between various technical work packages.
• Ensure consistency between design assumptions, operational constraints, and future construction requirements.
• Participate in design reviews and technical validation sessions with project stakeholders.
• Monitor action plans, technical risks, and critical issues throughout the design process.
• Produce regular reports on design progress, key milestones, deadlines, and critical topics.
• Contribute to the optimization of technical solutions while considering Data Center requirements for performance, availability, resilience, and maintainability.
Candidate Profile
• Engineering degree in Electrical Engineering, Energy Engineering, Building Services Engineering, or a related discipline.
• Significant experience in the design and management of engineering studies for Data Center projects.
• Strong knowledge of RIBA 2 to RIBA 4 design phases or equivalent APS / APD / PRO stages.
• Proven expertise in electrical engineering and/or MEP design coordination.
• Demonstrated experience managing engineering consultancies and multidisciplinary teams.
• Solid understanding of critical infrastructure systems, including:
- High Voltage (HV) and Low Voltage (LV) distribution,
- Generator systems,
- UPS systems,
- Cooling and HVAC systems,
- Fire protection systems,
- Associated technical infrastructure.
• Ability to manage multiple technical interfaces and oversee complex engineering challenges.
• Excellent coordination, communication, and stakeholder management skills.
• Professional English is required to work effectively within an international project environment.
