Context

As part of complex industrial projects in the nuclear sector in the United Kingdom, ProjecTTech is looking for a Cost & Risk Engineer with at least 5 years of experience.

Working within a project management team, you will be responsible for cost control as well as risk and opportunity management. You will contribute to the reliability of budget forecasts, the anticipation of cost overruns, and the implementation of the necessary control measures to ensure project performance.

Main Responsibilities

  • Establish and maintain the Cost Breakdown Structure (CBS) in alignment with the Work Breakdown Structure (WBS).
  • Monitor budgets, commitments, expenditures, and outstanding commitments.
  • Implement Earned Value Management (EVM) and update Estimate at Completion (EAC / RAF) forecasts.
  • Identify and analyze budget variances and contribute to periodic cost reviews.
  • Assess the financial impact of scope changes, claims, and contractual amendments.
  • Lead risk and opportunity identification workshops and maintain the associated risk register.
  • Perform qualitative and quantitative risk analyses on costs and schedules, particularly using Monte Carlo simulations.
  • Assess and monitor financial contingencies allocated to cover uncertainties.
  • Define and monitor risk mitigation plans with technical teams and relevant stakeholders.
  • Consolidate performance indicators and produce the dashboards required for project management and decision-making.

Technical Skills

  • Strong knowledge of cost control: CBS, EVM, Estimate at Completion, variance analysis, and budget monitoring.
  • Strong knowledge of risk analysis and management methods: Monte Carlo, HAZOP, FMEA.
  • Good understanding of the interfaces between costs, schedules, risks, and contractual changes.
  • Proficiency in SAP PS/CO, Advanced Excel / VBA, and Power BI.
  • Good knowledge of Primavera P6, particularly for cost-schedule integration.
  • Knowledge of specialized tools such as Primavera Risk Analysis, Safran Risk, or @RISK.
  • Ability to produce reliable performance indicators and analyses for project management.

Candidate Profile

  • Master’s degree / Engineering degree (Bac+5) in industrial engineering, general engineering, project management, or equivalent education.
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in project controls, with a focus on costs and risks.
  • Experience on large-scale, complex industrial projects, ideally in the nuclear sector, or alternatively in infrastructure or energy.
  • Good knowledge of the requirements and constraints associated with high-criticality industrial environments.
  • Ability to work in a multidisciplinary environment and coordinate various technical and operational stakeholders.
  • Fluent French and professional-level English.
