Position Overview
We are seeking an experienced and safety-focused Rigger to support energy and industrial projects in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. The professional will be responsible for planning, preparing, and executing lifting and rigging activities associated with the installation, maintenance, and movement of heavy equipment and materials within energy facilities.
The Rigger will work closely with crane operators, supervisors, construction teams, and maintenance personnel to ensure all lifting operations are performed safely, efficiently, and in compliance with project requirements and industry standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Inspect and prepare rigging equipment, including slings, shackles, chains, hooks, spreader bars, and lifting accessories before use.
- Determine load weights, centers of gravity, and appropriate lifting methods.
- Select suitable rigging equipment based on load characteristics and lifting requirements.
- Secure loads correctly and ensure proper balance prior to lifting operations.
- Direct crane operators using standard hand signals and communication devices.
- Monitor lifting activities to ensure compliance with approved lifting plans and safety procedures.
- Conduct pre-lift inspections and participate in toolbox talks and safety briefings.
- Identify lifting hazards and implement preventive and corrective actions.
- Maintain rigging equipment records and report damaged or defective equipment.
- Ensure compliance with company HSE policies, client requirements, and local regulations.
- Assist with the installation, positioning, and relocation of heavy equipment, mechanical packages, transformers, generators, piping systems, and structural components.
- Support maintenance activities, shutdowns, turnarounds, commissioning, and construction projects.
- Coordinate with supervisors, lifting specialists, and project teams to ensure safe execution of lifting operations.
Required Technical Skills
- Strong knowledge of rigging principles, lifting operations, and load calculations.
- Ability to read and interpret lifting plans, engineering drawings, and technical documentation.
- Familiarity with mobile cranes, crawler cranes, overhead cranes, hoists, and lifting accessories.
- Understanding of energy industry safety standards and lifting regulations.
- Competence in inspecting rigging equipment and identifying defects or non-conformities.
- Ability to use standard hand signals and radio communication effectively.
- Knowledge of risk assessments, permit-to-work systems, and safe lifting practices.
- Understanding of critical lifts and complex lifting operations.
Qualifications & Experience
- High School Diploma or equivalent.
- Valid Rigger Certification from a recognized institution is preferred.
- Minimum 3 years of experience in rigging operations within the energy, oil & gas, power generation, utilities, industrial, or heavy construction sectors.
- Experience supporting construction, maintenance, shutdown, turnaround, or commissioning activities.
- Experience working with heavy lifting equipment and complex lifting operations.
- Good understanding of workplace safety standards and HSE requirements.
- Basic English communication skills are required; Arabic is an advantage.
