Context
A reliable and experienced Driver / Field Logistics Assistant is required to provide safe transportation and day-to-day logistical support for infrastructure activities in Algeria.
As National Support Staff, the successful candidate will be based full-time in Algiers, and will support both urban travel and multi-day field inspection missions, including access to remote locations and challenging terrain.
Main Responsibilities
- Personnel Transport: Provide safe and reliable transportation for personnel within Algiers and during multi-day field inspection missions along the railway alignment.
- Field & Off-Road Driving: Safely operate 4×4 vehicles on unsealed roads, rough terrain, and remote access routes.
- Vehicle Safety: Conduct routine pre-trip and post-trip vehicle checks and ensure vehicles remain safe and operational.
- Fleet Maintenance: Manage routine vehicle upkeep, cleanliness, preventive maintenance schedules, and vehicle inspection logs.
- Field Logistics: Support the preparation and coordination of transportation and logistical arrangements for field missions.
- Administrative Support: Assist with administrative errands, document delivery, collection of materials, and other operational requirements.
- Operational Coordination: Coordinate travel requirements with the project team and ensure timely availability of vehicles for planned activities.
Technical Skills
- Strong professional driving skills in urban, long-distance, and field conditions.
- Proven ability to operate 4×4 vehicles on unsealed roads and rough terrain.
- Good understanding of road safety and defensive driving practices.
- Basic competence in automotive maintenance and identification of common vehicle issues.
- Ability to perform routine vehicle inspections and maintain accurate maintenance and inspection records.
- Strong familiarity with routes, road conditions, and remote access points in the regions concerned by field activities
Candidate Profile
- Valid national driver’s licence with a clean driving record.
- Minimum 5 years of professional driving experience.
- Demonstrated experience in long-distance driving and on unsealed or challenging road conditions.
- Excellent knowledge of the regions traversed by the railway alignment.
- Previous experience supporting field teams or infrastructure activities is an advantage.
- Basic automotive maintenance capabilities.
- Fluency in Arabic is required.
- Working understanding of French is required.
