Context:

As part of major industrial and cleanroom facility projects, the HVAC Commissioning Engineer is responsible for verifying and validating the performance, reliability, and regulatory compliance of all mechanical and HVAC systems.

The role involves hands-on technical work, coordination with multiple stakeholders, and ensuring full alignment with project QA/QC, HSE, and client requirements throughout all commissioning phases.

Main Responsibilities:

  1. Commissioning Preparation
  • Develop and review commissioning plans, protocols, and test sheets for HVAC systems (air treatment units, chilled water, heating, BMS).
  • Define and organize L1–L5 commissioning activities, in collaboration with engineering and construction teams.
  1. Testing and Performance Verification
  • Execute or supervise testing, adjusting, and balancing (TAB) for air and water systems.
  • Verify functional performance, control sequences, and BMS integration.
  • Monitor and document system performance against design intent and regulatory standards.
  1. Documentation and Quality Assurance
  • Manage and maintain all commissioning documentation (procedures, test records, deviation reports).
  • Ensure all activities comply with QA/QC procedures and traceability requirements.
  • Contribute to the Turnover Documentation (L5 phase) and client handover packages.
  1. Coordination and Support
  • Collaborate closely with design, construction, and client commissioning teams to resolve technical issues.
  • Participate in system troubleshooting, defect correction, and punch list management.
  • Support performance validation, qualification tests, and final acceptance phases.

Profile:

Education:

Degree in HVAC, Mechanical, or Energy Engineering (or equivalent).

Experience:

3–5 years of experience in HVAC commissioning within industrial, cleanroom, or data center environments.

Technical Skills:

  • Strong knowledge of air/water balancing, BMS integration, and functional performance testing.
  • Understanding of HVAC systems, cleanroom airflows, and validation protocols.
  • Familiar with commissioning standards (ASHRAE, SMACNA, ISO).

Soft Skills:

  • Methodical, organized, and quality-oriented.
  • Strong analytical and troubleshooting abilities.
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
  • Autonomous and proactive in problem-solving.

Languages:

English: fluent (technical and conversational).

Additional European languages are an advantage.
