Electrical Design Engineer for High/Low Current Systems (J25-268)

by PROJECTTECH ENGINEERING

Location: Dunkirk, France
Sector: Batteries / Industry / EPC Projects (ACC, Verkor, Northvolt, ProLogium)

Context

As part of the design and construction of several battery gigafactories, we are seeking an Electrical Design Engineer for High/Low Current Systems (CFO/CFA) to strengthen our engineering teams.

The projects involve complex industrial installations including:

  • High/low voltage power networks,

  • Heavy continuous process loads,

  • Infrastructures with high energy redundancy (N+1 / N+2),

  • Ultra-dry rooms,

  • Advanced safety and monitoring systems.

Main Responsibilities

1. Electrical Design & Studies

High Current (CFO)

Perform studies and calculations:

  • High/Low voltage power balance,

  • Sizing of MV/LV switchboards, distribution panels, transformers, UPS, generators,

  • Selectivity & protection studies,

  • Short-circuit, voltage drop, earthing, lightning protection calculations,

  • Lighting design using Dialux / Relux.

Schematics & drawings:

  • Single-line diagrams and synoptic diagrams,

  • HV/LV distribution schemes,

  • Cable schedules and lists,

  • Routing plans and layout drawings.

2. Technical Coordination & Interfaces

Coordinate interfaces with:

  • Battery process (coating, assembly, calendaring, etc.),

  • HVAC / utilities (power requirements, control),

  • Safety systems: fire detection (SSI), sprinklers, gas suppression,

  • PLCs, BMS / SCADA systems.

Integrate specific gigafactory constraints:

  • Very high continuous loads,

  • Sensitivity to power continuity,

  • High energy redundancy,

  • Critical environments: dry rooms.

3. Construction Support & Execution Follow-up

  • Reviewing execution studies: calculation notes, schematics, technical documents.

  • Ensuring compliance with standards: NF C15-100, IEC, EN.

  • Handling RFI, technical discrepancies, and participation in design approvals.

  • On-site technical support:

    • Installation checks,

    • FAT/SAT for transformers, switchboards, UPS, etc.,

    • Testing and commissioning.

4. Documentation & Project Management

  • Writing: technical specifications (CCTP), calculation notes, design documents (APS/APD/EXE), datasheets.

  • Contributing to tenders and supplier selection.

  • Monitoring design schedules and reporting to the Electrical Lead.

  • Participation in multidisciplinary meetings and BIM reviews (Revit MEP).

Technical Skills Required

  • Medium/Low Voltage: transformers, MV switchgear, main switchboards.

  • UPS, generators, redundancy.

  • Selectivity, protection, continuity of service.

  • Earthing, lightning protection.

Low Current Systems (CFA)

  • Fire detection and safety systems (SSI),

  • Access control, CCTV, intrusion detection,

  • IT networks, fiber optics,

  • BMS/SCADA, PLCs.

Tools

  • Caneco BT/HT, Ecodial, ETAP, or equivalent.

  • AutoCAD, Revit MEP.

  • Dialux / Relux.

  • Microsoft Office Suite, SharePoint.

Gigafactory Specifics

  • Knowledge of high-power industrial environments.

  • Multi-trade interface management.

  • Understanding ultra-dry / dry room constraints.

  • Managing N+1 / N+2 redundant power systems.

Candidate Profile

  • Degree in Electrical Engineering / Electrotechnical (INSA, Polytech, HEI, Arts et Métiers, EILCO, ENSE3, etc.).

  • 3 to 10 years’ experience in industrial or complex commercial electrical engineering.

  • Experience in:

    • Data centers, pharmaceuticals, chemicals, batteries, oil & gas, microelectronics, heavy industry.

  • Proficiency in professional English required.
