Context
The Civil Inspector is responsible for monitoring and inspecting civil works on-site to ensure compliance with project specifications, approved drawings, and quality standards. The role focuses sur le contrôle terrain, la conformité et le suivi des travaux.
Key Responsibilities
- Inspect civil works including earthworks, concrete, structural elements, and infrastructure works
- Ensure compliance with approved drawings, specifications, and construction standards
- Monitor contractors’ activities and workmanship on site
- Inspect formwork, reinforcement (rebar), and concrete placement
- Witness material testing (concrete tests, compaction tests, etc.)
- Review basic technical documents (drawings, method statements, ITPs)
- Identify and report non-conformities (NCRs)
- Follow up corrective actions with contractors
- Prepare inspection reports and maintain proper documentation
- Ensure compliance with HSE requirements and site safety procedures
Requirements
- Education: Minimum Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering (Civil Engineering preferred)
- Experience:
- Minimum 10 years of overall experience
- Minimum 5 years in a similar position
- Experience in construction site inspection
- Experience in infrastructure or building projects
Technical Skills
- Good knowledge of civil construction methods and practices
- Experience with concrete works and reinforcement inspection
- Ability to read and interpret civil and structural drawings
- Familiarity with standards: ACI, ASTM, BS (basic understanding)
- Knowledge of QA/QC procedures
- Basic reporting and documentation skills
- Proficiency in MS Office
Certifications (Advantageous)
- Relevant field certifications (civil inspection, materials testing)
- Basic QA/QC certification
- HSE certification (e.g., NEBOSH is a plus)
